Answers-
ALL BUT F) AND G)
a) Not only did George
give the comedy troupe the money to complete the beleaguered project, he
also made a cameo appearance. Not one of cinema’s finest moments. For a
true taste of George’s thespian abilities, watch "A Hard Day’s Night".
He was pretty darn funny.
b) George was
the mastermind of "The Concert for Bangladesh", the purpose of which was
to aid flood victims. Ringo and John both appeared. Although George had
the best intentions, none of the money raised by the event ever reached
those who needed it.
c) His one
line, upon seeing Homer, Skinner, Apu and Barney giving a barber shop quartet
concert from the roof of Mo’s Bar… "Ahh, it’s been done."
d) George provided
his guitar services, production assistance, some music scoring, and an
original song for the closing credits. Great movie, by the way.
e) As a solo
artist, he reached the top with "My Sweet Lord", among others. As a producer,
he was behind Badfinger’s "Day After Day". With The Traveling Wilburys,
he contributed to "Handle With Care".
f) While
he once held the record of almost $2 Million for "My Sweet Lord" (he unconsciously
stole "He’s So Fine" by the Chiffons- this drove him to a nervous breakdown),
George no longer stands on top of this ignomineous mountain. Mariah Carey
and Michael Bolton (the new record holder) have both surpassed him by a
great distance.
g) Many
people believe that McCartney and Harrison never writing a song
together, but
pparently, they did. It is called, "In Spite of All the Danger". It is
actually the
first original song the Beatles ever composed. And it was
the last time
those two wrote a song together. However, all four Beatles did receive shared
songwriter credit on a handful of songs.
h) Yup. Not
exactly the most challenging bass line, but he handled himself admirably.
Paul took a turn on lead guitar on that tune.
i) Back in
1960 and early 1961, George and the gang were playing at the Kaiserkeller
Club in Hamburg, Germany. After being detained for some late-night carousing,
he was sent home to his mum. The rest of the Fab Four returned with him.
j) Eric Clapton’s
epic, "Layla" was a thinly disguised love poem to George’s mate, Patty
Boyd. Patty ditched George shortly afterward. If I were a chick and Clapton
wrote a song like that for me… well, it makes you think. But the two men
remained friends, toured Japan together in the early ‘90’s, and even shared
the stage.
